Presented by Florida Hospital for Children

People from all walks of life - from serious gamers to the simply curious - are coming together to explore science, art, technology and careers, and to celebrate Otronicon’s fifth year at the Orlando Science Center. Not only is this an event where attendees can have fun playing new and classic video games, they can also learn about the latest in medical technology, simulation and digital media.

Florida Hospital for Children is involved again as a sponsor and partner, with an expanded area on medical simulation this year. Florida Hospital doctors will be on hand to answer questions and share their knowledge. Interactive, cutting-edge technology will also be accessible such as the BMI analyzer (measures height and weight to calculate Body Mass Index), Symbionix (computerized simulation for Minimally Invasive Surgery that enables real-life scenes and movement), Box Trainers (simulators that allow repetitive and deliberate surgical training and practice) and Echocardiogram equipment (uses sound waves to produce images of the heart, allowing doctors to see how the it is pumping blood and identify abnormalities of heart muscles and valves).

Come out for a rare opportunity to see how Florida Hospital is breaking new ground in surgery, and learn about how the latest and greatest in medical advancements relate to gaming technology. Speak to Florida Hospital physicians about the latest technology and how simulation and gaming can translate into careers in medicine.
