Dr. Phillips CineDome

Featuring a giant screen measuring 8,000 square feet, the 310-seat Dr. Phillips CineDome projects films through a fisheye lens, creating an image that surrounds the audience and extends well beyond their peripheral vision. Be transported to exotic lands without ever leaving home, with images of extraordinary clarity and depth that surround the audience using the largest film format in existence.

During Otronicon, the CineDome will host a schedule of giant screen films, open play gaming sessions and competitions. Films were selected due to their connection with computer animation or simulation. For example, Sea Monsters combines computer generated imagery with live action footage to effectively recreate the time of the dinosaurs. Afterwards, play the Wii game based on the film in the CineDome lobby.

Some of the films presented during Otronicon include:

• Magic of Flight: More than just a story about machines, The Magic of Flight showcases human potential, the importance of training and performance while exploring the science and history of powered flight. Steering from the earliest flight ventures to modern aviation, the film takes audiences on a wondrous journey with some of today’s top aerobatic pilots.
  
  
• Sea Monsters: This pre-historic adventure brings audiences face-to-face with some of the most bizarre, ferocious and awe-inspiring creatures to ever inhabit the ocean. The film combines state-of-the-art animation with stunning dramatic recreations. Journey back to the late Cretaceous when giant marine reptiles dominated the sea. Re-creations of actual paleontological digs reveal the scientific basis for each animated episode.
  
  
• Coral Reef Adventure: Follow a real-life expedition of ocean explorers and filmmakers Howard and Michele Hall. The Halls guide us to the islands and waters of the South Pacific, including Australia's Great Barrier Reef, Fiji, Tahiti and the mysterious depths of Rangiroa Atoll, to document the health and beauty of coral reefs.
